Presentation detailing the fundamental science that dictates when the melt freezes during filling for extremely thin parts and for thin parts that are very large.
We demonstrated that there is an exact science the isolated the variables that can dramatically improve castability.

Description:
This project investigated the technological feasibility of casting thin-walled parts out of magnesium. The key questions answered were:

What gate design is required in order to fill this part with minimal trapped air?
What should the die temperature be in order to make good castings?
How effective would hot oil be on my process?
How quickly must the part be filled?
What is the solidification time?
Will there be any shrink porosity in this part? If so, where and how severe?
